New research has highlighted a darker side to the online gaming industry, with games encouraging young Australians to gamble — leaving users up to thousands of dollars out of pocket. The study from Monash University and the Consumer Policy Research Centre has found nearly half of the 800 adult gamers surveyed, experienced financial harm due to manipulative designs built into gaming platforms.
